Not all mountain film nights are created equal.
Mountainfilm on Tour presented by Osprey in Australia returns this March, bringing over four decades of heritage from Telluride, Colorado, to cinemas nationwide.
Founded in 1979, Mountainfilm is one of North America’s longest-running documentary film festivals. Each year, it gathers filmmakers, climbers, skiers, artists, activists and adventurers in the San Juan Mountains with one core belief. Film, art and ideas can inspire audiences to create a better world.
It is known not just for breathtaking cinematography, but for depth. For purpose. For celebrating the indomitable human spirit alongside the landscapes that shape it.
We brought Mountainfilm on Tour to Australia in 2017. Since then, it has become our flagship mountain film program at Adventure Entertainment. It represents the kind of storytelling we care most about. Thoughtful. Human. Grounded in legacy.
And importantly, the playlist changes every year.
Each tour features a brand-new selection curated from the most recent Mountainfilm Festival in Telluride. Fresh films. New voices. New perspectives. No recycled program.

What Makes Mountainfilm Different
Mountainfilm is not a highlight reel tour.
It is a carefully curated collection of short documentaries exploring mountains, rivers, snow, creativity and community through a human lens.
This year’s Australian program includes:
- A freeride mountain biker navigating the preparation and pressure behind one of the sport’s most demanding competitions.
• A desert rock climber whose artistic practice mirrors the patience and precision required on the wall.
• A pioneering river guide who challenged a male-dominated industry and reshaped leadership on the water.
• Human-powered splitboarding in the backcountry, capturing rare windows when timing and terrain align.
• A community climbing gym redefining access and empowerment.
• An alpine highline journey exploring balance, risk and clarity.
• A mountain bike innovator continuing to redefine progression.
• A creative retracing of mountain heritage and memory.
• An inclusive avalanche education initiative making winter spaces safer and more welcoming.
These films celebrate adventure, yes. But they also celebrate responsibility. Creativity. Inclusion. Environmental awareness. Resilience.
That is the difference. That is the legacy of Telluride.

Why It Matters to Adventure Entertainment
At Adventure Entertainment, we believe powerful storytelling builds community. It brings together people who care about wild places and reminds us why they matter.
Mountainfilm embodies that philosophy.
It connects Australian audiences to a 45+ year festival legacy while reflecting the evolving global mountain culture we are all part of. It is not about spectacle alone. It is about perspective.
That is why it remains one of the most important tours on our calendar.
