The Women’s Adventure Film Tour® (WAFT) presented by Mountain Designs, is back for the sixth year and thrilled to be an official part of WOMEN’S HEALTH WEEK by Jean Hailes for Women’s Health. The tour is a celebration of the fantastic women around us who are doing extraordinary things in the name of adventure.

This is Australia’s original women’s adventure film tour, first launching to a sell-out crowd in Sydney in 2017. WAFT has now successfully grown globally, with screenings across Australia, New Zealand, the United States of America, Canada, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Italy, Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan, India and more.

The tour kicks off in Sydney at The Ritz on the 4th of September, and will be screening across Australia in cinemas such as Hoyts, Village, Dendy and a number of independent venues.

This year’s film set includes a diverse collection of six inspiring short films, films that inspire and open conversations around inclusivity and equality, and how we can use time in nature and adventure to help fuel and rejuvenate our souls.

We are thrilled to have rockstar climber Beth Rodden’s film, THIS IS BETH, which portrays her battle with body image and cruel self-talk, and celebrates how she transformed this dynamic to rediscover her love of climbing and herself.

BELOW SURFACE follows longboard surfer Lucy Small as she grasps the baton from the renegades who fought for equal opportunity in the world of surfing decades before her.

MARDI & THE WHITES focuses on the rich relationship we can have with nature and how Mardi realised after summiting all forty-eight 4,000 footers multiple times that she rarely saw any other people of colour. This leads her in the pursuit to create a safe community and more opportunities for people of colour to join her in appreciating this magnificent wilderness.

ALL IN, presented by Cardrona and Treble Cone, focuses on women’s experiences in the snow industry; it is them taking a stand to execute the importance of equitable gender representation in snow industry marketing material.

RACING ARIZONA is a retrospective of rider Liz Sampey’s Arizona Trail Race, which is from Arizona to Utah. It reveals how Liz used her grief from her recent breakup to fuel her on a 750-mile record-breaking journey, and how the outdoors and immense adventurous goals help rejuvenate the soul.

The film SHERI is all about Sheri Tingey’s 60-year career as a woman who has defied the odds by starting a company at age 50 that has revolutionised the outdoor industry. She is hilarious and entertaining, with a powerful story that demonstrates how she battled a health issue in a positive way and is still fulfilling her dreams, despite her age and what others say.
